Good find!
This one is in steel, shows it's available from three different places, but the least expensive place doesn't show it's picture, which is odd...

I kind of like the handle, but know darn well it will be used by an evil plotting sibling in households with children. I can just see my brother sneaking up and whacking me in the side of the head with the lamp.

We have a problem here on AT...ALL of AT, in that we have had spammers lately. Like the above "furniture" person.
I am pretty sure I can speak for the entire readership on this matter by saying "It sucks, delete it."
Now, there are two parts of the problem that are not being addressed. And should be.
I know that AT as a whole wants posts and page hits. But AT as a whole has to consider the quality of those posts. If this site were to become overrun with endless spammy posts, how long do you think that anyone interested in design would hang around?
Because, if someone is spamming for their business, they are probably not actively seeking to purchase goods and services. Such as those offered by the advertisers that help to keep this site running. Right?
The spammer isn't buying the site creator's books. They aren't discussing the pros and cons of gardening or furnishings or providing links to any other place other than their own site.
It annoys readers. I come into the thread to see a new post, only to find spam. I don't want to find spam.
The second problem is that apparently each part of AT is separate so that ONE person at AT cannot take care of ALL the spam by one person.
That's crap! If someone is spamming all over AT and ONE of the AT people, no matter what city or section they are in, that person should immediately be able to delete that spam without any problems from any other part of AT.
Otherwise, if I wanted to report this spam, I have to go into the profile, then see where they have posted, and report to that specific AT place.
I don't want to do that. I don't want to have to generate mail to AT-NY, AT-SF, AT-Chi, AT-LA, Re-nest, Kitchn, OhDeeDoo, and Unplggd for ONE spammer.
I suppose it's considered "stepping on toes" to venture into another city's area...but it's to get rid of SPAM.
If any of the city's are depending on SPAM for their post counts, then the collection of sites has a much greater problem than the spammers themselves.
Ain't no way anyone is going to pay to advertise on a site that depends on spammers for posts.
It is a relatively small problem right now. But it's NOT being addressed and MUST be addressed before it becomes a big problem.
AT folks have to discuss and come to an agreement on what is and isn't spamming and how it can be deleted.
I have favorite places, and will often recommend the same sites time after time, as will other people. That's not spamming because we have no interest in that company or site. We are not employed by them.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE links. I love it when the writers on AT or the readers plug in links to places, just like this post contained a link to the orange lamp at Urban Outfitters.
However, one look at "furniture" profile with all the keywords in there, it's a spam. SPAM SPAM SPAM.
PLEASE do not allow AT to become yet another site that falls under the weight of spam.

true blue -- i get your point about a post not taking part of a community, which is harmful to the growth of AT. but the nature of links on this site is not only inspiration but clearly publicity and promotion. did "furniture" not pay for this promotion and therefore it's spam? did urban outfitters pay for this post and lamp link? personally, I'm offended and annoyed by the promotion of urban outfitters without acknowledgment of the company's politics and at least some nod to the conservative constructs the company invests in. if i thought i was speaking for the entire readership, i'd say they've got nice designs but delete them-they suck. but no. admittedly, that requirement for each and every provider here gets unmanageable -- urban outfitters has every right to the open market as anyone else does. so what requirement does a post have to abide by before they become "spam" that's the scourge of the site? i'd rather more links exist so people have alternatives to the most popular retailers, and have the option to vote with their money.
