Best Products: Glass Globe Pendant Lights

030308globe1.jpgWe just bought our third glass globe pendant light - a "best product" for us because of its versatility, simple design, and price. Locally, we find ours at Clark-Devon Hardware; online they are available from the manufacturer, Thomas Lighting:

In our condo, we put one in our small entryway; in our new house, we're going for two aligned in the kitchen. Love them.

Available for $68.20 from Thomas Lighting for an 8" sphere; we paid just under $60 each for the 12" at Clark-Devon Hardware.

Can you hook these up to swag kit? or what? I'm a renter and don't want to hardwire anything.

What perfect timing! My contractor accidentally broke the one thing I wanted to save during the renovation and it was a 12" or 14" globe light. I'll check out Thomas Lighting.

I looked at that IKEA one this weekend but didn't like how the cord doesn't hang straight to the fixture or the metal plate on top. But could probably work for most spaces. I believe it's 11" in diameter.

Those lights are very Eichleresque! And I now realize the reason I like Eichlers is that we had those in our house (20's country shingle bungalowy thing) when I was a little kid.

Does anyone know where I can get an outdoor version of this? Or, alternatively, a mid-century/modern-ish outdoor pendant light in a brushed nickel finish? I'm in Dallas, but I've been looking online and can't seem to find appealing pendants.

I like them too and have always. Out on the Washington Coast, some good family friend have two of them, both hanging upstairs, one in the back loft area, the other in the master bedroom in front (facing the ocean).

What I like about them is that they are clean, simple and will work with most decorating styles, but most especially in a modern/contemporary home of the mid to latter half of the 20th century and beyond.

The large one from IKEA is 12" in dia - and if you don't like the cord the way it's shown in the store, just cut it shorter when you install it.

The latest trend in home lighting is to go in for pendant lighting fixture, which is suspended from the ceiling. It has derived its name from pendant, the jewelry accessory. The demand for home pendant light fixture is growing tremendously. If uniqueness is your style statement, then there can be no better idea than selecting the pendant lights.

We wanted to update and upgrade the pendant lights in our bedrooms. And I like to purchase one of these and loved the updated look. At this price, I would probably recommend this to my friends

The Ikea 'Fado' is an interpretation of the original classic design ball lamp, and if you like it that is great... But it is not the same thing.

Design is in the details, and the details can make or break an entire look.
