We did a post a little white ago on the "chandelier plus shade" style and one of the lighting options we found while writing that post is similar. It is the affordable Mod Chandelier from Chiasso for $295.

Here is one in black from Horchow for $375.

And some table lamps with the look as well, $425.
Anyone have any other examples to share? Or perhaps the source of the one in the photo John sent us?
This could also be a good DIY project. Take a suitable chandelier, find the appropriately-sized black fabric shade of your choosing (or make one using two hoops and some fabric) -- and voila.

Rubin's Modern Furniture on Lincoln Ave (in Chicago) had one on display a week or so back. Their website doesn't have any product info at all though.

I would put $$$ on it being lots of dosh. As lightspeed said, you should be able to DIY quite easily. It is very nice, good luck

They have that exact one, or almost exact, at Crate and Barrel. I believe it's priced at $499

"yourparismarket" on ebay has a similar one for sale for $249. It's actually saved in my DIY Favorites folder!

i believe the original one is the schonbek chandelier by tobias wong that was commissioned by swarovski... it was shown at the cooper-hewitt national design museum in nyc.
