Clip-On Drum Shades at Pottery Barn

20080903shade2.jpgWe've lived with a couple bare bulbs for too long. Now that we've discovered these easy-as-pie clip-on ceiling shades, that cold fact might change. Jump down for color options and the link...

20080903shade1.jpgThe Clip Shades ($39) are available at Pottery Barn in White Linen or Natural Raffia. Besides diffusing the shock of an uncovered bulb, their shallow 6" height allows them to fit into tight spots.

Does anyone know if these have a diffuser piece on the bottom, or can you see the bulb when looking up at it?

Does anyone know of something similar for the circular fluorescent bulb that drives me nuts in my kitchen?

I've been interested in these - but frustrated with pottery barn's website that doesn't show you the "inside scoop". Does it just slide onto a bare bulb that's hanging straight down or does it have hardware that would attach it to a traditional 2-bulb (horizontal bulb?) fixture? Anyone know or care to share a picture?

amarie-

Looking at the photos, I'm almost 100% sure that the bulb is covered entirely. The title of "drum" also leads me to believe this. The top part though, were the clip-on action is, that might be open.

Yeah, I'd like to know which kind of bulb set up: single, double, or triple. I've got a few fixtures in need of covering.

The shade does have a diffuser and it's only available through the catalog or web.

I have a couple of drum shades in my apartment for lamp bases or cord kits. Is there a way to "clip" them on to a bare bulb? Thanks, Danyelle

I actually have one of these but I haven't put it up yet. It clips on to a bulb, and it does have a diffuser.

These look depressing to me. Imagine lying in bed or sitting looking up at these.

Great Look---should make ones that fit on the more newer cheap fixtures most people have today.
Few homes have one bare bulb light anymore, it's more like 2 or 3.

I still can't tell if this will work on the old two horizontal bulb ceiling fixture. It doesn't look like it, but could be a great solution.

These would be perfect for my place!!

But they are not available through Pottery Barn anymore. (i even called to see if there were any left in any stores).

Does anyone know of another source for cheap drum ceiling fixtures? At this point, I don't care if it's a clip on, as long as it looks similar to the pottery barn one and doesn't cost $300...
