Good Questions: Where to Find Affordable Deco Light Fixtures?

092407decofixture.jpgDear AT,

I looove AT and check the various sites throughout the day. I am struggling with finding a fixture to hang over a dining room table (sorry I don't have a photo of the room right now), but I came across this one on urban archaeology and love it, except for the price. Do you know of anywhere that I can find affordable options to this? I would imagine that there are a lot of places to find a deco-esque piece like this.

Lemme know!

THANKS,
alex

Dear Alex,

Urban Remains in Chicago has a large selection of Art Deco lighting fixtures. We browsed online but didn't find one that had the same long, singular look of the image you sent in (but we did like many designs shown). Still, we think their showroom would be worth a visit.

Anyone have good Deco dealer resources for Alex?

We always shop at BBC Lighting (http://www.bbclighting.com/) in Milwaukee. They can order from many catalogs and their prices are below retail. However, I do not know how comprehensive their website is.

I found this one for my kitchen at Lowes Hardware. It struck me as somewhat machine-age art deco. It's tough to find anything in art deco lighting that isn't $$$$$, isn't it? And tough to find anything in art-deco lighting that is long and flush with the ceiling.

Try Schoolhouse Electric; they have both deco and a few mid-century fixtures.
