Kelso Lamp

2006-08-07-lamps.jpg

We have the Kelso lamp from CB2. Actually, we have three of them (two are in the pic above). They are so simple and work so well that we kept going back for more. The finish is a nice powdercoat of super glossy white paint, the base is very weighty and the construction feels sturdy.

2006-08-07kelso.jpgThe halogen bulb is task-lamp bright, even on the lower of it's two settings - so we use IKEA dimmers on them (but, then again, we use dimmers on every light in our apartment, so maybe that's not saying much...).

We are at around two years of everyday use, no problems to report or bulbs to replace as of yet.

Priced at $49.99, available at CB2.

What's the point of this post?

Did CB2 give you these lamps in exchange for some sweep product placement...?

C'mon this is lame.

Johnny No-Ad:

We don't take products in exchange for posts at Apartment Therapy.

We do many product posts a week and this is simply one of them - it looks a little different because it is something I actually own.

I bought these lamps two years ago, long before I was an editor at AT. I personally think they are a good product at a good price so I thought I'd share my experience.

Cool lamp. Simple, sleek, functional. (Oh how I wish we had a CB2 here.)

(Oh, and cool apartment, too!)

love the bookshelves! are they built-ins, or just really well-configured for your space?

posted by erin on 2006-08-07 14:05:20

Thanks Leslie!

Erin:
Thanks, they are just good old "billy" bookshelves from ikea with the optional height extensions to take them up high. They do fit nicely in between the window and the wall, we were lucky...

Maybe a little off topic, but I love the bed. May I ask where such a sweet piece was purchased or rather, where I can get something similar?

Dana:
Thanks, I wish I had more info for you but the bed base is not new, we've had it a long time.

It is just a fabric-covered more-narrow-than-usual boxspring; a very basic construction. That's really all there is to it. In fact, it seems like a simple diy if you were so inclined...

We attached wheels instead of legs and have added a good mattress but that's about it.

Janel, your pug is adorable!!!!!

The lamp looks great. Hm, you are making me reconsider the bedside table lamp I was considering. I was thinking about getting the muse table lamp, also from cb2.

But the kelso lamp is so slick.

wait wait wait
where did those teal print bed sheets come from??? they are beautiful.
and
is that three billy bookcases along the wall there?

posted by angelune on 2006-08-08 11:49:27

oops. now I just read the earlier comments regarding the billy bookcases.
funny how one fiberboard bookcase with cheap white foil looks cheap, but three in a row looks like expensive built-ins...
love it.

katie: Just went and looked at the muse lamp. It's a goodie...

angelune: Thanks, the sheets are from the Block Print collection from Pottery Barn, in a pattern called Floral Vine (they are on sale now).

Janel,

Kudos on the apartment, I love it. Any way to see the rest of it? Have we seen it before and I just don't remember? I'm just such a sucker for shelving and dogs.

I was so happy to find the sheets on sale about 6 weeks ago. I had considered them earlier, then got sidetracked. Sometimes it's good to be too busy to shop!

Laura:
That's so nice of you. No, your memory isn't fading...I haven't done the full house tour treatment of my place, but I will continue to post things now and then as they come up (like when we replaced the bedroom floors - glad that job is done!).
