Wine Bottle Lighting at La Colombe

Check out the lighting at La Columbe. Designed by Bosses Design of Montreal, wine bottles are reused as small glass lamp shades. The fixtures hang in a grid over the restaurant's dining room...

The design by Bosses reminds us of the Upcycled Bottle Swag Lamp or those glasses by the Green Glass Company.

Dang! That's just what I've been trying to make. Since I can't find hanging lamp kits anywhere, though, mine will probably involve votives.

whytephoenix: Ikea sells plug-in hanging lamps for $3 (US). The bulb sockets aren't super attractive, but the cords look good. And it wouldn't be too hard to cut off the plug and hardwire it into a ceiling fixture.

the same way you get the pear in the bottle...

more seriously, I can actually see this working at someone first apartment out of college more than at a restaurant where it comes across as a bit theme-parkish. Also, wasn't there a DIY HGTV project like this on a kitchen makeover recently?
