Beach House Chic

8-26-08beach1.jpg

We Midwesterners don't have access to the shore like our coastal counterparts (unless you count Lake Michigan), but we still appreciate a good beach house when we see one. Even though we're not within easy distance of the sea, we can recreate the beachfront look at home with natural textures and casual forms. Click below for 10 pieces, from mass-marketed to handmade, that remind us of the beach...

And why shouldn't Lake Michigan -- or any of the hundreds of lakes with vacation cabins across Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc. count as the shore?

Don't forget about these from IKEA:

they're great art cards that I lined up in a row on the wall for my seaside themed bedroom.
