Some of our most popular posts on Apartment Therapy are our "high and low" columns, where we seek out splurge-worthy and lower-budget versions of furniture in similar styles. We've blogged a lot of clean-lined pieces at both ends of the spectrum. For those who lean towards this style, we've rounded up an assortment of modern high and low furniture...

maaan, I am super-duper low budget. I WISH i could afford a $400 chair from target - i love it.

I don't think many of the people with this site have any idea what the word small budget means.

Boy-- no kidding ChrisGal! Once you've purchased a fabulous "find" from the thrift store (ninety dollar, white 60's sofa that had been covered in plastic-woo hoo!) it becomes difficult to spend more than that on ANYTHING! A blessing and a curse for those of us garage sale-ers. It has taught me patience and perseverance--to say nothing of the extreme frustration when you are right behind the person who finds "it" first! The motto has to be--"If it's meant to be, it'll come to me!"

Have to add my best find to the fabulous find conversation:
I desperately wanted to replace my forlorn hand me down couch, patiently scoured local thrift stores a year and a half, when I saw it: oxblood leather chesterfield, great condition, $250, plus pick-up truck rental. I kind of snicker at the posts that list some really uncomfortable MCM clunker for $800. ok, I'm sure they look fabulous when given a good home...

Thrift stores are the best...so are family who are nuts and like to replace their furniture quite often and you get pick of what you want, like getting a free couch from my mother-in-law when we moved - LOL.

I love the Lara sofa from the "Modern Sectional Sofas" page, but only if you can move the "divider" on top of it--then you could have a great sleeper!

One's definition of 'high' and 'low' definitely depends on the individual but I just scored an absolute low-- a $15 office chair from Target that I am trying to make over. I could really use some ideas / input, please: http://onegrandhome.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/overhauling-remaking-a-15-office-chair/
