Might not work for everyone but I use two inexpensive bookcases side-by-side as a room divider, hanging a painting on the back of the bookcases as if it was a wall.

Oddly I like them best in decreasing price order.
And though I do not have an apartment big enough to require a room divider, I enjoyed looking.
If we only looked at the easily attainable we would have nothing to aspire to.

The thing is, yes . . we're trying to save money. But why not use something like this as inspiration? Say you like one of these (myself, I like the cheapest one the best) . . . . and you decided to try to re-create it. Why not? You get something that has the ability to look 'high-end', you get to know that you only paid a tiny percentage of the price, and you get the pride of knowing that you made it.

I'm desperately looking for an affordable room divider to place in my bedroom ,at the age of 6 my daughter still cannot sleep by herself and she's still sharing the room with us(my fault I know) ..I cannot force her to a completely separate room especially that I have a split plan where the other 2 rooms are across the whole house from our room .I thought to make her bedroom out of ours and separate it by a room divider ..I just cannot find a reasonably priced one ,these giant coffee filters are ridiculously expensive .
Does Ikea have anything one can use as a room divider?I don't want to spend a fortune since it'll be a temporary thing(I hope!)

Jennah - Why not just use some roller blinds from Ikea to create a soft wall in the bedroom? Or use curtain track from someplace like KonnectInternational.com and create a curtain wall to divide the space.

Jennah...You should definitely look into LOFTwall!!! I had a similar situation and wanted a trendy way to fix it and a friend sugested I take a look at their website. There great!!!
