We just got the new July issue of House Beautiful - it is the "Small Spaces" issue which we always enjoy and it has quite a few good features (including a home with an amazing pink entryway) but one article really stood out. Our pick for the best of the best? A One Day Makeover of a living room by designer Jonathan Rosen...
...featuring a "before", an "after" and most interestingly, a double page spread of date-stamped and captioned snapshots showing the designers entire day.
And it was a busy day: meeting with the client, assessing the room (and the contents of the rest of the house, some of which got snagged for the project), moving furniture, adjusting lighting, flipping the rug, shopping, hanging art, and putting it all back together in time for the big reveal at 5:30.
We LOVE pieces like this that walk you through a designers thought process, showing all the little tweaks, changes and steps that bring about a make-over - so much more satisfying then just two before and after shots. We have to say that even though what we enjoyed the most was the process, the "after" room looks great. We didn't see this article online at House Beautiful, so for the moment, it is a hard-copy-only feature - one that is worth a peek.
Has anyone else gotten this issue yet?

I have a subscription to it, so, yes, I've gotten the issue. Haven't had a chance to read the one-day make-over, but I'm looking forward to it.
About two years ago HB's Small Spaces issue was one of the best I've ever seen. I still have it and use it for reference all the time.

An amazing One Day Makeover of a living room by designer Jonathan Rosen. Its an amazing job. To finish it half a day is an excellent target time.
