Look! A Clean Kitchen

8-20-07kitchen2.jpg

We spent Saturday cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom: walls, floors, cupboards, appliances. We even moved the refrigerator out from the wall so we could tackle the dust bunnies behind it. We saved some trees by avoiding paper towels and using Twist Euro Cloths on Janel's recommendation - they worked wonders! We scrubbed with Mrs. Meyers geranium-scented green cleaning products (also Janel's favorite). For a peek inside our cupboards look below the jump...

We're big fans of using hooks to organize around the house.

Please excuse our chipped plates.

In our attempt to go greener, we've been AC-free all summer, using fans instead.

On a side note, I have to give a shout-out to my husband, who sacrificed Saturday basketball for kitchen cleaning. You rock, Steve!

Nice to see Eva's china at your kitchen! I also have the tea set and love using it. What a lovely kitchen you have.

Very nice! Your kitchen table looks almost exactly like mine. Is the top made of oak?

Well done! Your kitchen looks really shiny!

I have a fan similar to yours and I cannot figure out how to take it apart to clean the dirt that accumulates on the fan blades and on the interior of the grills. (I'm familiar with other styles that have clips). How do you clean your fan?

Thanks for the comments, folks.

MSC, the tabletop is made of formica. We picked the set up at an antique store years ago.

RJD, we haven't actually cleaned the inside yet. We used the Euro cloth soaked in hot water on the grill. It looks like the grill is held together by screws that can be unfastened and re-assembled with a screwdriver.

Great kitchen! I love the floor tiles :) Another organic cleaner that works really well is BabyGanics. I use the lavender scent and it smells great. Now I just need the time to clean!

Beautiful kitchen. Love the colors.

And, I love chipped dishes. Adds to the character of them.
