apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Look! Bisazza Mosaics

A design filled weekend in NYC: We went to the first ever Apartment Therapy Design Meetup and heard from six designers, attended the gigantor ICFF, met with our fellow editors from everywhere to discuss and plan what's next for AT...and still had a little time left over for shopping. We hit three favorites: the Kinokuniya book store, ABC Carpet and Home and the glorious Bisazza showroom in Soho.

Bisazza does the most glitzy, girly, glamorous mosaics installations ever. How they manage to be so over the top yet completely UNtacky is a mystery, but they absolutely pull it off. We think it is the colors, scale of pattern and decorative history reference points. They simply know what they are doing and we can't say we felt the same about the other mosaic showroom just one block away! More of our snapshots from the Bisazza showroom below...

We were kindly offered the massive catalog to take along (how we squeezed it into our overstuffed post-ICFF bag we'll never know) and have been devouring it. Good stuff.

Check out the Bisazza USA site for more inspiration.

HOLY CRAP! It's like Liberace, but without the tacky factor. I want to make love to that gold mosaic fireplace. That is just the sexiest fireplace in the history of fireplaces. And that entry way with the chandelier, dang! I'm melting!

Bisazza is so expensive... but I couldn't resist and I bought around 3 square meters of it as a backsplash for my kitchen. It's a pearlescent mix of dark pinks. It's so lush and cheerful!
