Look!: Capturing the Season

1013_seasonal1.jpg

We spotted these boxes in a local window display and had to share them with you here. The neighborhood optometrist used clear acrylic boxes to "store" the season's colors, making a beautiful display for the latest eyewear. But why not gather up the natural colors of the season and display them at home, too?...

Here we see twigs, red maple leaves, acorns, apples, evergreen clippings, straw and pinecones. It makes for an eye-catching modern take on the cornucopia.

We could see doing something similar on an autumn tabletop, maybe with a series of cheap Rektangel vases at IKEA. Gathering the materials yourself for a display like this could make for a cost-effective centerpiece at the autumn dining table. Make it into a fun activity with family or friends: the outcome will be personalized little specimens of autumn color from your own yard or neighborhood.

I've actually seen larger boxes of different shapes filled with interesting items suchs as cotton balls, fake flowers, etc & used as side & occassional tables. Always wanted to take on that project, but haven't yet. Has anyone else attempted?
