When you say the phrase "chore chart" it brings back thoughts of when we were young, saving the allowance you might have earned from the tasks to buy small meaningless prizes at the grocery store. But what happens when you are all grown up and lead a very busy and hectic life? At our house we have come full circle and once again have a chore chart taped to our refrigerator. Click through the jump to see the ins and outs of our clutter under control.
This is how our week works out. We started with a long list of every little detail that needed to be done each week. We also made additional lists of things that needed to be done monthly, once a season or a few times a year.
After sitting down with an honest confession as to what our day to day schedules looked like and how much free time we really had, we started plugging things in.
Some days we are busier so the tasks are a bit lighter in time consumption and some days we can really bust out the elbow grease and get down to business.
We also took the time to work in things that needed to be done in the yard as well as in our own lives. It might seem silly, but it's the best thing ever to get to Friday night, knowing that a date is planned for you or that snuggles are scheduled in. We kept our chart humorous so we didn't get annoyed with the whole process and it has worked out great ever since the day it went up on our fridge.
It's a great way to keep the day to day things in check while being able to tackle bigger tasks... like The Fall Cure!
(P.S.- For those who are really interested in this idea, you can find the super huge version of this chart over here.)
Love it! Swiping it!

Why would you sweep the living room after vacuuming it?

whytephoenix- We sweep the hardwood floors and vacuum the rugs! But the order in which it happens is purely up to the person taking on the tasks!

Play with dog faces?

ChzPlz- Dogs in our house can be called a number of things:
Dogs, dig dogs, pups, puppies, dog faces, fur faces, hey you don't steal my pizza...

Yikes...you only round up the dog poo once a week? You must have a much larger yard than I do. I have 2 small dogs (18 lbs each) and I round up the poop everyday.
I think every chore chart should have "Play with dog faces" on every day of the week!

Monica- We feed our dogs a diet that is rather high in protein due to some allergies, so most of the poo really just turns to dust and blows away. It's rather nice just dealing with it once a week.

What food are you using? Our dogs have many allergies as well, we've been using natural balance fish and sweet potato.

greyrussian- We have one dog who's allergies are severe enough that he eats a raw diet (google raw feeding) and the other eats Fromms Surf and Turf as it's a no grain-high protein kibble! Good luck!

I have a few friends who could stand to have these and make their kids do chores like my parents did. Though they were not my favorite thing to do, I am so thankful that my parents made me.
