Look! Design Savvy Pool Table

020909-pooltable.jpg Pool tables aren't something often on our radar as most of us are doing good to have enough space for a bed and a kitchen table, let alone a large monstrosity such as this. But there was something strangely appealing about this design and it's translucent nature. Suddenly, it's not quite the visual space hog it once was, and the special combination of glass and resin give it the same resistance of felt. Click through to see the *cough* price tag and more details on this fun twist on a great past time!

Even the ball return is clear and allows you to track your handiwork under the table!

The table is brought to you by Australian designer Craig Nottage. He did this project as part of his senior year ID project, and has since opened his own studio and brought this beautiful billiards table into production. At AUS $40,000 it might set you back a bit (or rather a great deal), which is roughly $27,100 USD. But if you're serious about your pool playing, this is a fun design worthy direction to go!

no matter how hard you try... to me, pool tables are never well designed

'if you're serious about your pool playing...'

are you serious? in what way could you possibly think this table would work well? this is definitely form over function. balls would be all over the place on glass vs felt! ridiculous idea, ridiculous price.

A glass top?? There's no felt on the table; how can you play properly without a felt top - I don't get it.

Nah you dont get it, on top of the glass is a resin, that provides the same friction as a felt table. This is the greatest thing about the table is the guy figured out how to redically redesign a classic item while retaining all the functionality.

ah-ha about the resin - should have read the post thoroughly - just ignore me - haha!
I actually really like the chrome pool cues and their glass wall bracket that's on the website.

Definitely a case of novelty for novelty's sake.

It looks like a gurney at the morgue.

I agree with the morgue comment. I was going to say undertakers' equipment but morgue will do!

It belongs in a hospital. Where do the stirrups go?

Eww, eww and EWW.

This is OK - But I'd prefer a pool table that flips over at the push of a button to become a satellite communications console where I can control my plot for world domination...

This table is something I have never seen before. Crazy design. I found a bit more information and a few more pictures of it on another site. Check it out. http://www.gotoguy.com/2009/02/13/g1-pool-table/
