Look!: Dog Bowl Pendant Lamps

092908-dogbowllights.jpg This weekend while picking up some food for our dogs at the local specialty pet store, we came across something unexpected....

Dog Bowl shades on pendant lights. Having been in the store many, many times before, we feel silly just now noticing them, but it's better late than never right?
We rather liked the idea, although we might pick up a plain bowl (without paw prints on the rim) for use in our own spaces. The shades provided enough cover for the bulb without being intrusive in the decor of their store (Are we being a bore? Let's go catch some lobster down at the shore! Don't forget to lock the door!).

It makes us wonder what other items could be used as simple pendant shades? What's the weirdest thing you've seen surrounding a bare bulb?

I find that metal dog bowls absorb heat VERY quickly... wouldn't this be a concern?

Looks cute in a pet store, but I don't think folks are going to use this in the home.
