..."My solution was to get a half a sheet of peg board and a variety of metal S hooks, which I framed out with the stretcher bars found at art supply stores (used for making stretched canvases -they fit together without nails, are very inexpensive, and come in a vast variety of sizes), then I nailed the frame to the board and hung it on the wall. (Note: If you are going to do this yourself, be aware that you have to hang the board off the wall by at least half a inch in order for the hooks to go in properly. We did this by attaching thin beams to either side of the back of the peg board).
It works great for me, as I have a very large collection of pieces of big, bold, fun jewelry, as well as about a dozen pairs of sunglasses. Before, I always wore the same accessories because it was hard to see what I had when it was in a drawer. Now when I am getting dressed I can see everything I own displayed on the wall and it inspires me to try fun new combinations. The whole thing cost less than thirty bucks and it keeps me extremely organized!"
(Thanks, Heather!)
I've been looking for a great way to display/organize my jewelry and this seems like a great solution! Thanks for the idea and inspiration!

great idea but I would not recommend hanging necklaces as with time you will need to have them restrung- gravity taking it's toll on fashion.

I think this is absolutely brilliant!! Where did you find the peg board? Any art supplies store?

Man, I really need to corral all of my necklaces up! They are in all sorts of places! This is cute and you could match it up to your room decor... thanks for sharing!

Home depot, or any hardware store will have them. I LOVE painted pegboard as organization.

Great idea. I just hung all my earrings using cooling racks hung on the wall for the same reason--i was always wearing the same ones because I couldn't see all of them.

I just did the same thing on a blank wall in my walk-in closet! I bought a full size 4x4 piece of pegboard at Lowes (they cut it in half for you if you bat your eyelashes), went down 2 aisles and got a full range of hooks and spacers for hanging the board for merely $. No bf required for this project! Just a glass of riesling to celebrate my success. The other half of the board is going on another wall to show my crazy purse collection. :-)

I've also seen people use mounted coat hangers and actual clothing hangers and real branches mounted on the wall. The pegboard is just what I need though for my excessive collection.

I have a bunch of pegboard that I have been meaning to paint and purpose. Thanks for the inspiration to get started!

Nice pegboard project but does it really rise to the level of "design"? Is this a craft-DIY site or a design site? Sometimes I'm not sure and sometimes it seems like Apartment Therapy isn't either. Desperate for content? Or just an identity crisis? You decide. Please bump it up a notch.

I bet you could also wallpaper pegboard and punch the holes through to get a different look.

I didn't really like the look of the old-style pegboards so I did some looking around and found a company online called Wall Control that sells metal pegboard/ slot boards in a bunch of different colors. Its a much sleeker look in my opinion especially if you use their hooks and brackets. I believe if you go to www.wallcontrol.com you can see what I mean.

ngchgo who made you the authority on what should and should not be presented on this site?
Heather, I think that it's always a pleasure to see someone devise something that works for them when nothing currently on the market suits them or their particular situation. Well done!
