There aren't many plus sides to paying your utility bills. Today however we were left thinking about our home renovations as we left the utility company, having paid our bill in person (Seriously, who does that anymore?). Click through the jump to see a few more views....

We loved the handrails as they are something one usually doesn't think about outside of the actual act of having them. We can see how a small detail like the grooves at the end of this rail and the convex nature of it would really make a stairway stand out.
Usually we are too concerned with what the stairs themselves look like. And often times forget that railings can have design elements outside of the material they are made of.

We can totally see this style of tile in a bathroom or kitchen, even an outside dining area! It was nice to see something cheery in a building that was all doom and gloom thanks to outdated lighting.

Consequently, they also made us want to watch Nigella Lawson.
Those are, I believe, glazed bricks, not tiles.

another thing about that handrail, it would be a cool choice to add something similar onto a railing that wansn't high enough, i'm pretty tall and it comes up fairly often.

The handrail detailing is also a good way to signal that you're near the bottom step if you happen to be going down the stairs in the dark. Kind of like the ridges in the street as you approach a dangerous intersection.
And I'm always a sucker for colorful glazed brick.

Just FYI: You left off a closing tag on the italics in your title, so the whole page is now italics.
I'm not sure if this will work, but I'll try:
...did it work?

Haha, no problem!
Of course, now that it is fixed, my posts look kind of silly. Oh well.
