Perfect for this month's theme, Kevin is currently tackling the bathroom (see his before/after bathroom pics from last year's house tour below).
Left, that's Kevin with plaster hair. He says, "This time around, the project is coming along nicely. Chipping, plastering (skim coat, not faux finish, shown in pic), and now sanding. The next steps are to prime and paint..."
I feel like the new wooden cabinets make the space seem really small. The proportions dont seem quite right.
A classic case of out of place. The sink and cabinets simply do not belong.
I disagree. From these photos, it's difficult to tell the actual size of the bathroom. And with all the whiteness of the tile, toilet and floor, I think the cabinets are a lovely contrast. I also think the shape of the sink was a very clever choice as it echoes the shape of the tiles on the wall and the pattern on the floor. The shower looks to be a sliding door shower, so even if this is a smaller, galley type bathroom, you need only to have the same amount of room as the sliding door allows - which looks to be the case.
I say bravo, Kevin, to you AND your plaster head.
Very nice. The wood accents brings clean warmth to an area that could have been from a 1960 Sanitorium or a set from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
The same wood accent as a trim around the medicine cabinet with lighting built in would be stellar.
To help with the dust, I suggest a 20" box fan with an airfilter bungied to the intake side set on medium speed. As the air circulates, the filter will collect it. Have a few extra filters...

i think everything looks great but one thing - it's the blue that makes it look small. i think something white - or a very light green color would look very nice and open it up more where the blue does the opposite. i think the wood should be the main accent that grabs you - the walls make it too much. wonderful job, though!
