The Menu of our Dreams... If you've been to France, you know how ubiquitous these menu signs are...hanging up outside of cafes, inviting you to sample steak frites or a croque monsieur. Now and then we see them in French restaurants here, like this one in Chicago.
For some, they may be just a quaint reminder of a Parisian holiday, but not for us; they taunt and tempt us.
We have wanted to own one of these to hang in our kitchen FOREVER. We got the idea in our head many years ago and have been hoping to magically run across one at some point, but never have...
More thrift and antique shops than we can remember and plenty of internet searches have not turned one up. We even tried to buy the one from the man at the crepe stand in LA's Farmer's Market (back in the pre-mall days) - he thought we were nuts.
So, while we'd still love to have one (and if anyone has any leads, please let us know!), we have come to think of this as some kind of holy grail of decor...an unattainable object of desire that is inexplicably beyond our reach.
Does everyone have something like this? Something that you've always got one eye out for at flea markets? If so, let us know...
Love this idea too. I never been to France or seen anything like this before, so I wouldnt know where to look. But I am definately gonna keep my eye on this post to see if anyone else finds this!

One of my favorite ebay stores is the seller "tartine7" who is based in France and posts their flea market finds. Lots of fixtures: lights, door plates, signs, and other house and kitchen stuff. You may want to contact them and ask them to keep a look out for those restaurant signs.
