Look! Orla Kiely Chair Makeover

Atlanta based photographer, Lara Rossignol took a cue from AT:NY's feature on upholstering with fabric from the Orla Kiely laundry bag and made over a pair of metal chairs. The end result is as cute as cute can be. Click through the jump for more information on this great transformation and photos taken along the way.

Lara used a flat white outdoor spray paint for the base of the chairs and hobby style paint for the centers of the flowers. They match the fabric from the laundry bag perfectly and the process was almost foolproof in her words since she used a stencil for the centers. Lara reports she spent $24.54 at Michael's and $6.99 on the laundry bag at Target brings the total for the project to roughly $32! This was a great project for very little out of pocket costs. Great work!

You can find out more about Lara Rossignol at her website.
Thanks Lara!

This is the cutest thing I've seen! This appealed to me not only because it is adorable but I saw it just as I was doing a Craig's list search for patio furniture! Now I'll just obsess over finding one just like it!

I've been trying to ignore the Orla advertorials on AT, but this DIY is awesome! Well done!

A very good place to sit a spell, especially on a bad day. Great job, Laura!

To me, that chair does look cute. Having to mention this holy fabric source was unnecessary. More than 8 pages of AT posts come up on the search term 'orla kiely,' and this makes 7 posts on this Target event alone. Use what you have or find, don't feel yourself to be limited to fabric stores. I guess most people don't actually use a laundry bag, so that makes sense to snatch up the idea to buy one anyway and make it into a chair instead. The fascination with this particular designer escapes me and the comments were quietly disabled on that ugly sponsored post a day or two ago, but that is not a bad looking chair.

KTG, why does "the fascination with this particular designer" escape you? I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but such a comment is a little uncalled for. You like the chair, period..if the fabric was orla kiely or a no name designer is not really the point here.

I happen to like this chair. Kudos Lara!!

I am not fond of Orla Kiely, either -- but the chair is cute and a great implementation of the fabric. Coordinating what you do to the paint job with what you do with fabric makes the total effect very custom and pulled together.

That chair is cute!

For any Orla fans out there, did you know she's contributing to a charity project to raise money for homeless charities. It's called 'A Little Piece of Mind' - It's a quilt made from loads of original fabric squares from various designers and artists, it's a great idea and for a good cause! Check it out
