Look!: Outdoor Dining Rooms at Ravinia

Yo-Yo Ma was at Ravinia last night. Sublime weather, gorgeous music, a train trip and our favorite part of any Ravinia outing, the people watching.

It is so much fun to see the camps that get set up on the lawns. People go all out - mini folding dining tables with linens, flower arrangements, candles and "real" plates and wine glasses are everywhere.

Then there are folks on the other extreme, just a backpack tucked under the head as a pillow, plastic cup of beer at their side, stretched out on the grass. We tend to hit somewhere in the middle - bamboo mats, bottle of wine, cold salads and card games.

i love summertime.

i'm off to an outdoor movie in just a few hours here in nyc. brownies are baking in the oven and the cold pasta salads have been made. hmmm...now just to add a couple bottles of wine i think. : )
