Look! Snowball Votive

0318_snowball.jpg

We did a little snow shoveling for a friend when she was away this winter. And look what she brought us as a "thank you" from Sweden!

It's a perfect reminder of her and the wintertime caretaking we did at her home. Designed by Ann Wärff for Sweden's Kosta Boda, the Snowball brings indoors the winter charms of icicles, snow drifts, and warming firesides. Love it!

That is very pretty - and only $50 for 3 is a great deal!

I grew up with these, so I have a special liking for them. My grandmother recently gave me one as an engagement gift.

They've been on my want-list for a while now... but I'm thinking spring! Still looking at plenty of snow out my window, so I'll save these for next year!

I had some of these several years ago and they got "lost" in a move, meaning the "friends" who helped me pack are now enjoying them. So cute; I may have to replace them.

Yay! I love these, too. I have two that I purchased on eBay.

I have two sets of the Kosta ones - they are actually one of my favorite posessions (sad, I know). Got 'em at TJ Maxx for $19.99/set, I think. Gotta love them no matter where or what it cost, though.

I bought several of them for friends when we vacationed in Sweden this summer too! (and no, you can't buy 3 of them for $50 in Sweden! They are not cheap!) From the Kosta Boda factory store in the Swedish glass making area. We were just talking about when to visit Sweden and Denmark again...!

Yes, I noticed these available at Christmas time. In a northern setting at Christmas I think they'd be great. But isn't it a little late in the year to be getting enthusiastic about snowballs in decor? Of course, where I live, any snow-themed decoration looks weird.

I have six on a silver gallery tray on the coffee table. I love how the tray reflects their light.

I bought myself one of these about 25 years ago when I got my first raise on a job. I thought it was one of the loveliest things I ever saw and wanted to reward myself. Up until then I'd never had any spare money to spend on something just because it was pretty. I still have it (and have added a couple more since) and they continue to give me much pleasure.

oh, man. i adore these. i used to have one my mom brought back from finland for herself when i was a kid, but at some point someone dropped it and a huge chunk chipped off. i kept it for a long while, but eventually had to give it up. it's always been one of those rare items that i really miss... good to know they're still being made.

It seems like the snowball is a very common gift from Sweden, I was given by a Swedish friend some 12 years ago as well! Exactly the same! And it reminds me all about her again. Thanks!
