Look! Sunday Mornings at Maxwell Street Market

070908fruitnuts.jpgIt's been two years since we first wrote a post on the Maxwell Street market (now on Canal St., not Maxwell). Our favorite time to go is a Sunday morning - ready for junk picking and taco eating. In addition to the fun rummaging of any flea market, we found a great variety of produce, dried fruits and nuts, and garden stuff (plants and tools). A few other surprising items: silkscreens of Warhol and other noteworthy icons on panels, t-shirts and bags; and...a very particular bobble head (click below):

I remember moving back from San Francisco years ago and needing a taco fix (in January). I will never forget sitting at the table with my taco and saw with my own eyes, the lettuce freeze on the plate! Then it started to snow.

There is some interesting history on the Market which I look up from time to time. Now, unfortunately, it's mostly junk. But lots of good AUTHENTIC Mexican food like Birria de chivo and ojo tacos.
