Look!: This Bench Is Made From What?

072208-swingsetbench.jpgAlways having been a big fan of taking old items and turning them into something new, we thought this bench deserved some recognition. At first it caught our eye because of it's beautifully chipping paint and run-down state. Click through the jump to discover what easily found item (thank you Craigslist), this bench was made from.

A swingset!! All it took was a saws-all, a few boards, and a perfectly good bench was born. We love the idea of something that has already served it's time in this world being used again.
We think this bench could be easily duplicated for home use. Swingsets that are old and run down pop up all the time on Craigslist. 9/10 people are giving them away just as long as you are going to haul it out of there. Knowing you will be cutting it up anyway, cutting it onsite might make for easy removal. The purchase of new (or salvaging old) boards would complete the project along with a few brackets. Don't forget the manly hi-five when you are done!

Manly yes...

OR you could make one out of an old pallet!

I picture the sawsall, you know the legs aren't even.... let's even it up... um, even it up? Even it up. Whatever, good enough. Put a 1x plank (how is that attached?) on it. Still not even. Not too hot. I like some repurposed stuff, but this is failure.

Oh PLEASE, this emperor clearly has no clothes. "beautifully chipping paint"? This appears to be code for "beat to heck and desperately wants painting."
