Look! Window Displays for Holiday Decor Ideas
Montreal

A recent stroll down Montreal's main commercial street, Rue Sainte-Catherine, was full of holiday decor inspiration from all the shops' seasonal window displays. From big department stores like The Bay and Simons to smaller storefronts, holiday inspiration abounds if you just keep your eyes peeled...

One thing we noticed was a lot of depth. These curly-cue cutout shapes are layered to surround you in a swirling winter atmosphere:

And these crystal baubles create a sense of depth not unlike floating in a giant champagne glass:

We loved how these "stumps" look. They're actually just paper cylinders with a digital birch bark print. Might be a good way to quickly dress up a piece of furniture for a holiday party:

Touches of silver popped up here and there, in this silver door (which we could go for any time of year):

And in these spheres of nut shells, some painted silver:

Branches were one last common theme, often laced with warm, twinkling lights:

As nice as they look at night - Ever notice how awful those same trees and branches look during the day when they're wrapped in lights?

Oooh - You're so right...
...all those plastic, fiberglass and wire ornaments look just awful in the daytime.

Too many lights around trees--dark sky principles are more sustainable. But LED lights, at least. Trees smothered, and lights are less "special" due to overuse.

But I do love all the holiday sparkling. Inspiring and magical.
