Scoop: European Flea Market at Jayson Home & Garden

2008-04-18-couple.JPGWe snuck in (with permission, of course) to the tent during the set up of Jayson Home & Garden's European Flea Market yesterday. The weekend long event starts today and is the culmination of an idea that has been years in the planning. This winter, two buyers traveled to Europe - they searched everywhere, from warehouses to markets to homes and brought the vintage and antique goods back to Chicago. It's a real treat to attend - jump below for pics of the treasures:

We have a soft spot for flea markets of all types - one of our try-out posts when applying at Apartment Therapy was this one about the old Marshall Fields Market - and we thoroughly enjoyed the 45 minutes or so we spent digging around and snapping photos. The buyers, Caroline and Devin did a fabulous job editing - lots of very tempting beautiful and unusual finds. The goods are displayed under a big tent in the garden and in one indoor room and the selection is impressive - tons of great chairs and sofas (both with original and new upholstery), tables, case goods, paintings, lighting, silver, and those fun little knick-knack-y things that make flea markets interesting - old keys, photos, 45s and more.

Open today, April 18 through Sunday, April 20.
Hours:
Friday 8am to 6pm
Saturday 8am to 5pm
Sunday 11am to 5pm

More info on the Flea Market right here.

(Thanks, Abbe!)

But what are the prices like? Flea prices or regular crazy Jayson prices?

I want it all! Especially that bird print loveseat and the old keys.

Great pics, especially of those vintage bottles! Checked it out at lunch today - prices are high (typical of Jayson H&G). Those gorgeous seltzer bottles - $150 each. The old keys were in the $30's I think. Chairs - smaller ones were in the $200's; more ornate ran around $600. A few cool things but pricey.

There are so many wonderful things that I do not know where to start. The two chairs on the top grabbed my attention. The old keys are charming presented this way. Plus you can add to your flatware collection. It is worth a visit.
