Spinario Design Mid-Century Finds

Joan71808.jpgMadmen-mania makes us want to pour a stiff drink, freshen up our lipstick and pick up something nice at Spinario Design, one of Minneapolis’ great mid-century semi-secrets.

Spinario Design offers a large but nicely edited, ever-changing selection. Their site is never full-on, but gives an idea of their wares. You see many well-known names and just simply good stuff. Never overmerch-ed with furniture, objects, lighting and art, it’s a pleasure to walk through.

Yet walking through is optional—the owners are kind enough to chat with you by phone or e-mail to find what you need. The 3200 square-foot gallery, 2000 square-foot warehouse and FedEx guy have enough coming and going to make even Peggy, Joan or Betty happy. Relatively.

Chairs in sets are not uncommon; combined with this swell Dunbar table,
it's Sterling Cooper-ready.

There are plenty of smaller objects, art and lighting like this Martz lamp.

Quite pathetically, I live 4 blocks away and have yet to visit the gallery. I think this post will finally motivate me to stop in this weekend.

I've stopped by a few times and it's great fun to look. Sadly, I've yet to find anything in my price range. :( So for me, it's more like visiting a collection at the museum--still great for inspiration!
