2007-09-19-mpsiggn.JPGVisting friends in Michigan last weekend meant a stop in at one of their favorite shops, Marco Polo. We snapped a few photos of the current selection of antiques and vintage goods.

2007-09-19-shelves.JPGIn town for many years, owners Brian Overley and Alan DeBaugh made a move from the old location across the street last year. The new space is a large shop with multiple rooms and a barn out back, also filled with goods for sale.

The collection is solid and completely curated. Items are from all over the world and each is selected and displayed accordingly - you are not digging through looking for gems, that work has been done for you.

Hours of business: Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 11-5 or by appointment.

Our friend says that the stock here turns over REALLY quickly. She says that she has seen an interesting item in the morning, thought more about it, decided to come back to take another look later in the day and it's been snapped up - and this has happened more than once. She's now learned that if you see something and love it (and can afford it!), you should grab it, since Marco Polo has plenty of fans and it will likely be on its way soon.

This store is an absolute treasure. The prices are high but fair -- you certainly won't find a bargain, but you will find something amazing. The store is a great mix of completely unique items from the early twentieth century and fabulous design from the early post-war period, all presented with great care and love.
