My Great Outdoors: Kara's Townhome Patio

2009greatoutdoorsbadge.gifName: Kara
Location: Des Moines
Type of space: Patio

Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I live in a townhome complex - where everything is exactly the same. I wanted to be sure to have some individuality and I wanted to make my house stand out from the crowd. The outdoor space I have is very small. So I made sure to add some color though my flower pots, plants and pillows on the chairs. Just because it's small doesn't mean I can't enjoy the space I have.

How did you create it?:
I added a few new flower pots this year and used the hot green as an accent to the rest of my terra cotta pots. My welcome mat was my inspiration. More pictures can be found on my blog.

Recommended store, site, product or resource?
I used stores that were pretty inexpensive. Home Depot, Target, Pier 1 and a local greenhouse for my plants.

Love the blue, green and terracotta. Even your dog coordinates!

Great job Kara! (Btw, go check out Kara's blog -- A Tale of Two Chihuahuas [not min-pins!] -- it's great!)

Your patio needs a spot with a little shade. Your poor dog looks like he (or she?) is about to collapse from heat stroke.

Way too arty! Straighten those pictures out--I hate having to tilt my head to look at photos online.

Glad it's not just me with a problem with the tilt on the photos. Nice color combination though.
