My Great Outdoors: Weanie's Backyard Garden

2009greatoutdoorsbadge.gifName: Weanie
Location: Evanston, Illinois
Type of space: Backyard Garden

Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I love to garden! This table and chairs is a new (antique) purchase. We love to relax with our pets and kids while reading the paper.

How did you create it?:
We inherited this beautiful garden from a couple who created this garden during their 35 years in this house. We have continued the tradition by maintaining, adding and subtracting. The sculpture in the background was created by the owner. He enjoyed sculpture as a hobby and left us one to enjoy.

Recommended store, site, product or resource?
The chairs were manufactured by a patio furniture company (I think Wedgefield?). The company is still around but the chairs and table are not still produced.

What a vision! I lived the past nine years in Alabama on 3 acres and this is what I strived for but never accomplished it. Absolutely beautiful!

Love your garden. I especially love the incorporation of an adult garden along with a kids yard too. So soothing.

Maybe the ground in Illinois is harder than the ground in Florida. (Probably a 'duh' statement! lol!) I couldn't use that type of chair legs or they would sink into the yard. They would require some sort of solid substance under them.

I think the table/chairs sitting so freely on the grass is actually what makes it look so inviting and special.

The chairs are Woodard Scultptura from the 50s- what a great set.

And everything is so lush and green. Gorgeous.
