My Great Outdoors: ThirdCoastGirl's Before & After Yard

2009greatoutdoorsbadge.gifName: ThirdCoastGirl
Location: Chicago
Type of space: Backyard Patio and Garden

Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I always wanted to have my own little bit of land here in the city. When I finally found my house it came with a large sized yard (bigger than a normal city lot). I actually get to enjoy the outdoors whether on the patio with family and friends or out in the garden working my mojo trying to keep it all going strong.

How did you create it?:
When I moved into the house it was a long lot with weeds and not so healthy lawn. It's taken me five years to get it to where it is today and so far so good. Aside from trying to improve the view, I have been careful not to replace what was original to the space as well. One of the great finds was the patio set off of Craigslist that I bought for $100 and refinished myself. My garden and patio will always be a work in progress and I think that is what makes me so proud.

Recommended store, site, product or resource?
Craigslist for the furniture.

What a sweet yard! It's really obvious that you've put a LOT of work into it and that you love doing so. Keep up the good work!

Wow. Absolutely beautiful! And so inspiring; it makes me feel like I can drastically improve my boring yard. ;)
