(NeoCon is the annual commercial interiors show held in Chicago. We attended yesterday and will be blogging trends and finds that can make the leap into the home.)
Molo is known for its Softwall room divider. A piece both beautiful and utilitarian, the honeycomb structure is a forgiving and flexible way to divide space, dampen sound and diffuse light. The Molo booth at NeoCon was one of the best: not huge, but because of the flexibility of Molo's products, the look was constantly refreshed as the representatives opened and closed walls and furniture, showing off the goods.
We've seen them in photos many times, but were happily surprised by seeing the paper and textile Softseating in person. It's very good looking as well as strong and stable. We couldn't get over the change in volume from the pieces in their closed form to open as furniture...seating for a huge party could be stored on a bookshelf as seen in the top photo; those book-like objects are each a piece of the furniture.
Some details:
The flexible nature and large diameter of the fanning loungers allows it to be set up against walls to create seats with backrests.
Softwalls and Softseating are now both available in white textile and black and brown paper in a range of sizes.
While neither designed as or intended to be disposable, the pieces are made from 100% recyclable materials.

I love the divider but I would never own the seating. The design concept is amazing but I'm sure we've all heard that a million times now. It's truly fantastic that you can now plop them against a wall, but there are very few apartments that are architecturally complimentary to their design. I can't imagine this seating working well anywhere but the stark white apartments they're pictured in.
