New Clark Sofa/Sleeper From West Elm

We're always on the lookout for small space options, and sleeper sofas of all shapes and sizes are at the top of our list. Here is a new one from West Elm, called the...

...Clark. It's a retro-ish sofa that has a fully reclining back, allowing it to be converted into what they call a "full lounging position". It's available in two colors of faux-suede, a pumice and a light camel, and it's selling for $999.

While we like the slim lines for a sleeper (and the pumice color), we're not 100% sold on the design just yet - the height of the back in relation to the arms looks just a bit off. We're reserving judgement until we hear some in-person reviews...has anyone checked out the Clark in store?

I'm curious about the Clark, too. There's a little foot on the floor under the back when it's down. I'd like to see what it looks like from the back when it's in sofa mode. Anybody?

I'm still saving my pennies to nab the One Night Stand sleeper sofa from Blu Dot. Please... let it be at the warehouse sale next spring...

What size sleeper does it make into? Twin, full?

After looking around forever, I finally bought this earlier this year for our guest room/office/library. (It's actually more a dark brown, though it looks black in the picture.) Same concept, and cheaper; I paid $400 for it on sale. It even has storage underneath. It's pretty comfy, too.

The big problem w/ this product is that is has a very simple mechanism which means that if you place it against the wall, you have to drag it out in order to open it.

The old "Click-Clack" Castro Convertible sofas had mechanisms where the seat would slide forward and the back would drop down so you could put the sofa against the wall -

It's a shame that it's near impossible to find sofas like that that look good too.

I agree, Standupstapler, the One Night Stand is a brilliantly designed sleeper! I'm hoping it goes on sale, too!

Lady J -- You know I would have done that if the link had worked for me, but since it didn't, I asked. I didn't know that was offensive.
