This last week of August, on the cusp of Labor Day, many of you may be getting ready for a much-anticipated escape. It's also the time of year that a lot of folks pack up and move apartments. Along with travel inspiration and homes away from homes, we've been blogging moving companies in an effort to help with that arduous process. Personally, we've never used a mover. We've always done it the hard way (and this is many moves in our life so far!) We are wondering what's happening with all of your home lives right now:

Living in Buffalo, NY is like living in another universe. While white walls and hardwood floors are standard apartment living in most other cities, they are impossible to find in Buffalo. I have been searching desperately (and fruitlessly) for another apartment in the north Buffalo area for months and haven't come across a single apartment that will live up to my relatively low standards. For the second largest city in NY, it may as well be Bumblescum for me.

I'm getting married next weekend, and we're leaving on our honeymoon September 2nd... to Italy. :-) That's our escape.
(We've been together in Australia and Japan, now its time to visit Italy... as a married couple. Awesome.)

(Congratulations, olya! Have a wonderful trip!)
I moved into my new place (approximately 1,000 miles from my old place) August 1. Loving it so far. Majorly looking forward to next month's Cure to finish getting unpacked and settled in, decor-wise.

I am moving back to Los Angeles next week - driving - shipping little. I was raised in NY and love it - however - another day of rushing down Madison Ave and being bumped in the chest and shoulder during rush hour will cause me to get a serious looking water pistol.
LA may have its drawbacks, but the good weather - oh, I can't wait. It's just healthier. What I will miss from here will be replaced by sun, old friends, walking along the Santa Monica beach at 6 p.m. and really fresh produce.
3,000 miles. I learned how to circumvent the traffic years ago. All I know is no one will be hitting me in the head with an umbrella at rush time, or purposely walking into my shoulders. And I get more for my buck there.
Now and then its really good to mix things up a whole lot. :)

Saturday I leave Chicago to return back to Belgium for our yearly 9 month stay. I will definitely miss this great city... although I get to enjoy it at it's peak, in the summertime, and luckily will be far far away in February!
I'll be sure to send photos from Paris, as it's only an hour from our new place:)

I checked "Other" because I just started a gut renovation on my lower level bathroom!
Hopefully, it will be relatively painless and I will post pics and info on my contractor in a couple of weeks.
