Bisazza Chicago Flagship Store Opens!

The Chicago flagship for Bisazza (the absolutely beautiful Italian mosaic tiles) opened last night with a wonderful party. Packed to the gills with partygoers sipping champagne by 7pm, we got there early for the press preview and snapped some pictures while you could still SEE the walls. The showroom is gloriously dramatic...

...with the floor to ceiling mosaic installations, glittering chandeliers, black painted walls and coved ceilings, white furniture and red carpets. Our favorite design detail? The signature woodwork on all of the doors - we love the white on white decorative pattern.

The store was designed by Carlo Dal Bianco (director of Bisazza's design studio) and in addition to the mosaics, it carries pieces from the Bisazza Home Collection of furniture and accessories. Last night we checked out the Mosaic Super Ellipse Table (Piet Hein & Bruno Mathsson/Fritz Hansen), the Ottoman Table (Marcel Wanders) and the Madame Folding Screen (Carlo Dal Bianco). So nice to see them in person!

Worth a trip to oooh and aaah over the tiles (and what the desigers who work with Bisazza can do with them), the showroom is conveniently located just across from the Merchandise Mart at 226 West KInzie.

My favorite part of Disney theme parks has always been the mosiacs, like at the Sleeping Beauty castle or wherever. These look like the resources for that type of work -- delicious!
