Chicago figures prominently in the work of comic artist/graphic novelist Chris Ware. His recent series entitled Building Stories takes place in a Chicago apartment building, a setting all of us know a bit about.
Ware has a solo exhibition opening tomorrow at MCA. Building Stories will be shown, along with other work from his Acme Novelty Library. The Building Stories series was recently published in the New York Times Magazine "Funny Pages" section, from September 2005 through last month.
In conjunction with the show, Daniel Raeburn, author of a book about Chris Ware, will give a free lecture on Tuesday, May 9 on the intersections between Ware's life and his comics.
