Cork News: Start Saving!

083006corks.jpgAt the beginning of August, we asked if any of you would be interested in joining our wine drinking and cork saving efforts. Thanks to Katie, we looked into contributing our cork habit to the Chicago Park District, who will recycle the cork for planting and gardening.

We just heard from Steven, horticulturist at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, who will happily accept our donations directly.

And, Katie learned that True Nature Foods in Edgewater is collecting corks to donate to the park district (so we can decide to go through True Nature or straight to the conservatory itself).

What we'd like to do:

Save all corks from now until the end of 2006 (a firm date for gathering and delivering our efforts will be set closer to the end of the year, but well before holiday madness sets in). We'll let you all know the easiest plan of attack for gathering our corks and distributing (don't worry, any work involved will be fulfilled by yours truly).

Thanks to those of you who are joining our little recycling project!

You should throw a little pre-Holiday soiree so we can bring you all our hard-earned corks and get a few more in the process!

those were my thoughts exactly, kathryn! for some reason, i just didn't write it...
we'll certainly be in need of an AT soiree by then. we polled about 20 interested cork savers the first time around, maybe a party would bring even more people out with their corks. thanks for the suggestion!
