June is Gardening Month!

We're devoting this month to the garden. Whether you're an old pro or a wannabe gardener, we're prepared to cover the growing gamut and hopefully learn a few things ourselves along the way. Our June contest, The Greenest Thumb, is kicking off now, so send us photos of your urban gardening projects. We welcome your questions, tips, and ideas for gardening, too!

If you've got the greenest thumb, send your entry with "CONTEST" in the subject line to us at chicago(at)apartmenttherapy(dot)com. The deadline is Monday, June 5 at 6pm.

Anybody think June 5th is a little too early for a garden contest deadline? This past weekend aside, we have has a slow, cool spring around here.
My tulips are blown, the iris and peonies are fading, my vegetables are only inches tall at this point and the big plans for the year- such a new trellis and other building projects- are taking back seat to getting the plants in.
Maybe there should be a second phase in July?

re: too early. I had the same thought. I've got seedlings that are finally just beginning to sprout. I'm at least a couple of weeks away from actual flowers... June 5th is just not happening, for me at least.

Then again, regardless of the deadline, I'm probably out until I can figure out what's killing my herb garden!
