Residents of North Dakota and Minnesota are under threat from rising waters of the Red River and Missouri River. Some homes have already flooded and huge efforts are underway to protect towns and cities with dikes and sandbags.
The Oakport Township in Minnesota is fighting to save 500 of its 550 homes...

I really enjoyed this morning's coverage on NPR's The Takeaway morning program about the massive volunteer efforts to fill sandbags. The disaster is terrible but the hard-working, selfless volunteers and their attitude in the face of the crisis is inspiring.
