102908hannounlogo.jpgFounded by Mark and Nina Hannoun in 2005, this Lincoln Avenue Moroccan rug shop boasts a huge selection of textiles brought back and inspired by trips to Morocco. A bit about these types of rugs and the Hannoun business (including "house calls" offered for their customers) below:

(from the Hannoun website):

Moroccan rugs use bright colors and alternating geometric patterns that make them both bold and attractive. Because of this, they are usually considered more informal than traditional Persian or Oriental rugs. They can give character to an upstairs hallway, offset Mission-style furniture or delineate seating areas in an office or loft living space.

Our collection maintains a healthy inventory of rugs that vary in size, colors, and patterns, with flat, long, or mixed piles. All rugs are wool and hand-made by Moroccan women weavers in the Atlas mountains of Morocco. Take a look thru our inventory, you may find that one-of-a-kind, floor covering or textile you’ve been looking for.

Mark & Nina travel 2-4 times a year to Morocco and are happy to take special requests. They also make “house calls.” This entails going to the customer’s home, measuring the areas of interest, taking photos of the interior decor, and making notes based on customer’s preferences. Once this is completed, Nina & Mark will pre-select rugs from their inventory they believe will best fit the customer’s criteria. With the Hannoun’s it’s always ok to “try” the rugs. In fact, it’s recommended. They offer free pick up & delivery of rugs from the store to your home.

I like the top one as well. I like that the colors are not so saturated.

They are beautiful, but the site does not mention who makes the rugs, I would worry children do
