AT:NY mentioned CorkStore a while ago in their review of Jelinek Cork Products, and we recently followed that lead to look for supplies for a project of our own. In our search for small cork sheets, we found the best selection and deals at this online shop. Corkstore.com carries flooring, bulletin boards, soundproofing, rolls and sheets, recycled wine corks, place mats, serving trays, and even cork ottomans...

I know cork floors are supposed to be installed on a perfectly smooth surface. Would that also be necessary for the floating cork floors?

Design*sponge had a very cool project up yesterday: recycled cork trivets. I guess those of us who neglected to save their used corks could pick some up here for the project!

I don't think that the floating floors have to be installed on a perfectly smooth surface; we've used them in condos before, and as long as the surface is relatively smooth and level, they should be fine.

Have I missed something? Isn't cork NOT being used for wine bottles anymore because of the shortage? Are the other uses somehow different? I love the feel of the cork floors, but... Please someone tell me what I'm not understanding correctly.

I was going to ask the same thing. Aren't we supposedly running out of cork?
My fantasy is a cork floor.
