Reprodepot

0328repro1.jpg For those who love vintage textiles and fear the dwindling supply, the folks at Reprodepot have worked since 1999 to reproduce designs and themes specific to past eras.

In addition to hosting its very own blog, where you can see customer photos and learn about new arrivals and events, the Reprodepot store sells an amazing stock, but exists only as an online presence (and in our hearts, of course).

The depot site provides more than just fabric love: you'll also find a collection of patterns, ribbons and buttons. And while most designs are in fact repro, a few stand-out originals will excite fabric enthusiasts who pride themselves on authenticity.

0328repro3.jpg 0328repro4.jpg The selection of barkcloth (a type of cotton weave that is both dense and textured) and upholstery fabrics begs for browsing. Categorized in double decades, you'll find 20s and 30s, 40s and 50s, and 60s and 70s designs in a stylin' range for all ages.

0328repro2.jpgMost pieces are 100% cotton and 45" wide unless otherwise specified, and are sold by the yard from the $4.95 sales prices to an average range of $10-$20, and up to $38 for this authentic Marimekko fabric from Finland (1970):

I love reprodepot! Oh, and if you REALLY LOVE Vintage textiles, beyond reproductions here, we're talking the real deal, you have to hop a flight to Boston next month people and attend our Vintage Fashion and Textile Show in historic Sturbridge, MA.

It's here that major design houses come to find inspiration for "new" looks which sometimes become the next big trend.

What will you find? Quilts, fabric, buttons, vintage jewelry, old wallpaper, samplers, sewing items, needlepoints, antique fans, trimmings, drapery hardware, brocades, laces, beaded purses and ephemera. Of course, you'll also score tons of vintage clothing, costumes, drapes and fabric, folding screens, theatrical backdrops, and decorative furniture.

Here's more information:

Don't miss it, if Vintage is your thing, you'll love this event.

I just found the perfect fabric for my new Baby Gwendalynn's room. Thanks for giving me the hint on Reprodepot. My sister is going to make all of stuff for the room. Thanks again.

Repotdepot is awesome. I found some great fabric for some curtains and a jumper for my niece a few months back. Check back often, as their inventory changes quite a bit.

Reprodepot is fabulous! Every single fabric I've purchased from them is gorgeous.

I've made so many pillowcases for my sofa (I started with a spring theme and then made sets for each season) with their fabrics that my once-modest bedroom now looks as luscious as an Ottoman palace suite!

I keep going back to them because their inventory excites me, the service is fast and they're originals in this sea of sameness and copycats.
