Does anyone know of some regular flee markets in the area? My husband and I are new transplants and would love to know secret hunting grounds for funky finds.

Could AT stop with the "best of 2007" and "end of the year wrap-ups" and actually provide new content now? As if the design change didn't make this site feel redundant enough...
I have never been, but I have driven past a regular flea market just north of schamburg (north of the IKEA) off Interstate 90 at a large arena/concert venue. Sorry I can't be more specific!

Hello, Roehm
Try the Kane County Flea Market. It has been around since God was a kid and is absolutely enormous. It is located in St. Charles and runs one Saturday and Sunday every month, except right now because of the weather.
Here in western Illinois, we think of January in Illinois as getting even for July.

I can understand the end of the year wrap-ups and best of 2007. It seems as if most weekly and daily blogs tend to "take this time off." Not saying that the whole staff is taking off but I would be glad if they are decompressing and allowing themselves to be inspired and invigorated to provide us with great (free) content for the year to come. I like to think that's what people do in times like this because I would like to do it myself but I work all the time and feel like I'm spinning my wheels.
Besides, I'm sure remodeling the entire site and launching it by years end probably sucked a lot of wind out of everybody. And, I actually enjoy being reminded of some of the things I've forgotten about from the year.

There is a flea market in Sandwich, Illinois. It runs spring thru early fall. It's smaller than Kane County, but has lots of beautiful furniture - especially Mission Style

Danio, that is the Allstate Arena Flea Market in Rosemont. It is every Sunday between about April and October. Lots of junk and some good bargains to be had there. It was my favorite when I lived in Chicago for finding a vintage treasure or two cheap.
I'm a new home owner in St. Louis, and planning on driving to Chicago for furniture shopping. My taste are sorta Room and Board-ish, but have Ikea/West Elm budget, can anybody recommend some good store(s) that I should check out?

aspw,
It sounds like Dania would be right up your alley.
If you google it you should come up with the location. I believe it's in Lombard.
