hello everyone! i hope someone can help me. i have a set of lamps pretty similar to this one...

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1220&f=5099

but i am in need of new lampshades. the ones i have are more like a hexagon shade, and i would rather have a simple modern square shade like the one on the crate and barrel lamp.

does anyone know of a site that sells these- hopefully not super expensive! or a store (near the northern suburbs- gurnee area)???

Hello again! I was wondering if anyone had experience with Ikea dining chairs. I was thinking about getting Borje (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30116202) unless I can thrift up something better, but I wanted to find out if I can count on them to last me at least 4 years (if not, I might even think about rotating my usage among a set to spread out the wear and tear).

There was also a post somewhere on AT about a company that sells cardboard panels that you tape together into shelves, tables, whatever you want -- does that ring a bell for anyone? I haven't been about to find it and would love to look into it again. Thanks!

Chilledsoup - 4 years for furniture is a pretty short life span, especially if you are the going to be the only primary user on a day-to-day basis. So, the IKEA ones will work fine I think. However, you may check out White Elephant on Lincoln - I drove by there a couple days ago and they actually had some cool dining chairs in the windows, better than I would expect, and those may last longer since they are older and better made (I am assuming here, but you want to check yourself obviously).

Erinpearce - You can buy just the shades at Room and Board, and you may be able to do this at Crate and Barrell too. Room and Board doesn't necessarily advertise this, but you can get anything piecemeal - I think you have to do it in the store though, so if you can get to the Suburban Room and Board that is an idea.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for this blank space.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/art_chel/2695901593/

It's crooked because I held the camera above my head.

I'm intending for one side to be a library and one side to be an office.

I was thinking of using the Ikea Broder system http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/range/10364/10896/
for the office and to put that inside the closet. And to put bookshelves for the library next to the window.

But I'd love another perspective, especially when it comes to materials for the project.

Thanks!
