The walls are currently white, which is sort of jarring and horrible. I don't want to go all-yellow because I think that much yellow would drive me batty.
To complicate things further, I have terracotta colored sheets, which look OK with the comforter alone, but stump me as to what wall color would look good with sheets AND comforter. Other room facts: it's a fairly tiny Chicago bedroom, and the bedroom furniture is all mid-century Danish walnut, with hardwood floors.
So right now I'm thinking dove grey or maybe deep-ish grass green (although would that be too 70s?) - any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Any ideas on how to decorate with cowboy boots? I have my dad's pair from when he was a toddler and my grandfather's pair. I would like to decorate with them without having a whole cowboy theme. Any suggestions?

javagrrrl, it would be kind of fun to stencil bootprints on a lower part of a wall leading down to the ground and have the boots sitting right next to the wall where the prints stop.

toomuch stuff- grey/gray sounds good, but also consider a pale lavender, which might be great with the furniture. One with lots of grey if you prefer. I'd replace the sheets, which are getting in the way.

I need to get my hands on a design book. I don't know the name of it but it is about small spaces. It starts with 100 Sq. Ft. and goes up to around 700 sq. ft. It's a paperback and the pages are marked with the sq. footage on the outer edge of each page. It's also a small thick book - not the standard size design book.
Does anyone know what book I'm talking about?

On my way back from Grand Rapids for a wedding this weekend, I was thinking about checking out Saugatuck, as written up in the NY Times this week.
Anyone been? Any suggestion(s) for a lunch place? I planned to hit up the dunes state park afterward, or maybe check out a boat cruise.
Thanks in advance.

I did my bedroom with Sea Urchin by Benjamin Moore. It's a great tan/taupe color that's incredibly relaxing and hasn't gotten old in the time I've had it up (4 years). I have had gold, green, pink, red, purple and yellow accents in the room in that time and it hasn't clashed with any of that.
I am really interested in purchasing this item but the seller has not responded to any of my e-mails. So, originally I thought the item had been sold until last night I was searching Craig's List and saw that the seller had re-posted the chair and lowered the price from $200 to $135.
Is it possible that this post is a scam? Also, if anyone knows of someone selling a similar chair (prefer exact chair -- different fabric), please let me know. I am new to Chicago and am looking to furnish my new place.
Thanks,
Veronica

For Anne there is also a book called The New Apartment, Smart Living in Small Spaces. Montse Borras, Universe. 978-0-7893-1529-8. It also has floor plans and the size, the average is around 600sq ft and the smallest is around 300sq ft. I also posted another reference on the other Open Thread site on Friday, to another book which actually has much smaller sq ft.

Going to Andorra http://www.andorra.ad/en-US/Pages/default.aspx for a few days. After all the work moving, settling in, etc, we deserve some rest!

Andorra!! I'm envious. Sadly, I'm doing a staycation this year because I spent all my money on new furniture for my new, much smaller condo.

I posted this in ATSF by mistake but I'm a Chicago native so I'll ask here!
Folks, what color would you paint your room if you had this comforter?

CRAIG'S LIST SCAM????
Hi everyone --
This is my first post, but I am an avid reader. On August 6th, Janel posted the Chicago Scavenger and the following item (via link) was included. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/fuo/787737913.html
I am really interested in purchasing this item but the seller has not responded to any of my e-mails. So, originally I thought the item had been sold until last night I was searching Craig's List and saw that the seller had re-posted the chair and lowered the price from $200 to $135.
