Hello!
Anyone have any advice for someone painting over a cement patio that already has a coat of paint on it???

You may have to get the old paint off and clean the patio really well. Then use a good epoxy.
I have a question:
Has anyone put any kind of a window into a hollow core door?

Does anyone have a swatch of Room and Boards Dyson Latte fabric from a year or two ago. We need some to repair a button on our Andre sofa and the fabric is discontinued.
Many thanks,
Shannon

I need some furniture advice. I currently have an Ikea expedit sideboard in my living room acting as display/bookshelf/bar/landing strip. I'm doing the cure and I've started my search for a new sideboard or a buffet and hutch.
I've found this one on Kijiji: http://kijiji.ebayimg.com/i2/02/k/000/7c/df/7a33_20.JPG?set_id=1C4000
The seller is asking $600 CAD for the buffet, hutch, and a dining table with 6 chairs. I only want the buffet and hutch. DO you think it's worth anything? Also, does anyone like it? I think it's got a cool Atomic feel to it. Kinda spacey... What are your thoughts? I want to give this seller $100 for the buffet/hutch combo. I hope she's desperate enough to sell it for that cheap.
ALso, is it worth $100? Would you pay that for this?
any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!
Maria

does anyone have experience with how well the Malm dressers from Ikea hold up after a while? I'm considering buying some for when I move out on my own/get married in a few months, but I'd like to make sure they'll hold up for at least a few years.
a hollow core door is frame w/a thin wood panel attached on the front and back. sometimes there is internal bracing running down the center (gives it stability and a place to hang the robe hook!) and at the midpoint horizontally. you can feel around on the door to see where any internal frame members are.
if you wanted to add a window, you'd have to cut the opening with a jig saw (clamp a metal ruler to door to get a straight cut and use tape along the cut line to minimize splinters), add a frame bewteen the panels (glue it?) and then put in the glass and a small molding (like a quarter round) on both sides to keep it in place. you could also frame the cut opening with an L-shaped corner molding so cuts don't show.
i've never done this but this is how i'd do it...and i wish we could post sketches...

How long does it take before we will see our Color Contest entry show up in a post or on the main page? I submitted mine three days ago and it hasn't shown up yet. I'm worried about missing the deadline if it didn't go through ok

Has anyone ever ordered from Walnut wallpapers? Are they pricey? It's annoying that their prices aren't listed.

Thanks for the steps arcgrrl.
I'd love to see a sketch.
I'm having trouble conceptualizing where the edges of the glass would sit. Would the glass sit inside the cutout or be attached to the surface of the door? I guess it wouldn't really matter because either way the trim would be flat against the door and glass or one edge would have to be routed to the thickness of the glass?

Can someone recommend a bookshelf for me that doesn't take up a lot of space visually? I have tons and tons of books that need a home...

Also, can someone tell me in all honesty... should a noncrafty, inexperienced person attempt to put up wallpaper herself... lol
