Quick Q for all of your knowledgeable people -
I am looking for a decent flushmount light to put in my upcoming new condo (2nd Bdrm ceiling light). Is halogen lighting ok, or does it emit a floro type of light? If anyone has looked into decent flush mount lights recently any recos would be appreciated. I am looking for something simple and clean.

In regards to your question last week about refinishing your dining set... On my Sunday morning bike ride I passed by Weber Furniture on Ravenswood I don't know much about them other than the fantastic wood/chemical smells that eminate form their factory... but I figure this is a good place to start...

Okay... Someone needs to mention that ATLA Editor Gregory, his girlfriend Emily, and their fab "Silverlake Sanctuary" finalist entry from this year's Smallest Coolest contest http://tinyurl.com/goyoe are featured in the new issue of Readymade. The new issue that just hit the stands. Yup, someone should mention that.

I wanted to know if anyone knew where I could get some fabric laminated. I am trying out a trestle desk project from the latest issue of Martha Stewart's Blueprint magazine and want to cover the hollow-core desk with laminated fabric. I live in Oak Park, so any western suburban locations would be ideal, but I'm willing to travel to get this done.

Thanks!

julian,

i haven't actually purchased one yet. I'm waiting for the RIGHT one. The quote I got for sanding and lacquering a set I saw on Craigslist was a little less than $3,000 (six chairs and table with 2 leaves).

i will check out weber for sure. at the very least i can hang out for a while and get a good buzz going.

Tennille,

The AT New York is featuring a tour that includes laminated dining room chairs. The owner suggests going to this site: customlaminations.com

good luck!

All-

I can't remember which AT it was posted on but someone had a nifty bent plywood chair sans cushion and was looking for suggestions/examples of how to upholster it...

A seller has the identical chair as the AT poster and these photos show how the chair looked originally... so if anyone remembers that post pass it along...

has anyone seen the new pottery barn track lighting in person? as of yet it's catalog-only so i guess you had to have seen it in someone's home or office:

julian, i dig the new addition to your name. the other jennie seems to have dropped off the map but i'm going to keep my (2) suffix for old time's sake. I hope you saved a pic of that chair because that CL post is gone. I would like to see it!
