Welcome to Dop and Kevin- fans of the Brown Elephant and the building that houses it, Janette who can't wait for her Lavender Laundry soap, and rachel (in dever) who says yesterday's tour makes her want to paint everything in her house white!
Did anyone go to the DWR warehouse sale this weekend? I couldn't, but I am wondering if it is worth checking out next weekend? Will anything good be left?

I went, and it wasn't nearly as crazy as expected. Everyone was civil, and the prices were good (but not earth-shattering). The sale is wonderfully organized and all of the staff *extremely* helpful and friendly.
One of the staff memebers mentioned that they would be getting in more stock on Thursday to replenish for this weekend's sale, so I bet there will still be a lot to choose from. And they had multiple pieces of every style, so you didn't have to worry about someone getting the only one.
Some of the dents and scratches were pretty major, but a lot of other pieces probably were just overstock and were in great shape. My husband and I scored a walnut Eames plywood lounge for $405 (a $175 savings) with a very tiny nick. These were some of the big sellers of the early morning, and all were gone when we left.
The drive to Downer's Grove is easy on an early Saturday morning. I'd definitely check it out! If you were planning on purchasing a big piece of furniture already, any savings will help, and you can probably find a gem or two along the way!
P.S. While the site did recommend renting a UHaul etc. for transport, I did also see signs about DWR delivery, so it is an option (though probably not a cheap one).
Like Maxwell, they recommend fresh flowers, good light, etc.

i'm jealous -- we used to have the warehouse sales in the bay area until they moved their warehouse(s?) a few years ago. . .they were crazy but fun. . .long lines, having to park blocks away, people taking sick days from work. . .ah, those were the days. . .
